Edinburgh International Film Festival 2010

Today the Edinburgh International Film Festival begins, setting the stage for the many festivals to take over the city in the next few months.

One of the films opening the 64th Edinburgh Film Festival is Sylvain Chomet' s "The Illusionist." Unlike his other films which have been set in Paris (Belleville Rendez-vous is fantastic), Chomet's animated feature this time is set in Edinburgh. Inspired by a visit to the capital 7 years ago, Chomet set up a studio here and created "The Illusionist" which has been described as a "fairytale depiction of Scotland." I can't wait to see it.
