Hands Across The World Banner

Last week I spent a very enjoyable day at my children's school helping them to transfer their drawn designs onto felt hands which are going to be assembled to create two quilts: one which will stay in my children's school and the other which will be sent to their partner school in Malawi. Although my skills were mostly needed in the threading (and rethreading!) of needles and the tying of knots in the thread, it was very satisfying teaching the few who had never sewn before how to do a simple running stitch or how to sew on a button. I was exhausted before the lunch break bell had even rang.
