Ada Lovelace Day

The daughter of poet Lord Byron, Ada Lovelace was a mathematician and is often referred to as the first computer programmer. Today, Ada Lovelace Day, celebrates the achievements of women in science, technology, engineering and maths.

There are many events being held around the world including the BCSWomen Ada Lovelace Festival of Wikipedia here in Edinburgh where "this year BCS Women will be running a Festival of Wikipedia to add/update/improve Wikipedia entries of Women In Computing. " Too bad it happened a few weeks earlier on the 3 October and we missed it!

But that doesn't matter because in our house we think of Ada Lovelace every single day!

Ada 'Fender' Lovelace

  1. Great name for a dog ... give her a hug from me!

  2. And she is absolutely adorable! Hugs from me, too!
