And first up: a wee visit to London and a trip in the 'Great Glass Elevator' that boldly (and smoothly) sent us twirling skywards past 'Men's World' to 'Women's Universe'!
Back to earth, we sampled the Turkish Delights, olive cheese bread and salted caramel hot chocolates of Borough Market, quickly glimpsed the many wonderful paintings of Paul Klee at the Tate Modern and had a wonderful day walking, exploring and eating our way around Shoreditch. Fuelled by the caffeine of the Shoreditch Grind and then the tasty mushrooms on ciabatta with spinach and melted swiss cheese, creme fraiche on the side, of Ozone, we went shopping!
BOXPARK, Shoreditch is a pop up mall ' constructed of stripped and refitted shipping containers, creating unique, low cost, low risk pop-up stores.' And true to its statement that BOXPARK is not just a 'run-of-the-mall' shopping centre and that 'it's a living, fertile community of brands packed with talent, innovation, and attitude that puts creativity and fashion back where they belong: on the high street', I found the beautiful textile jewellery of Amy Lawrence.
And although Amy is on Etsy, I think she has managed to find a nice balance between her online presence and the many brick and mortar (or shipping container) shops that sell her work around the globe.
