Back from the Scottish Borders

A wonderful week spent walking along The Tweed, watching the birds, and eating pieces of cake: too many pieces of the Guinness Cake with White Chocolate Icing served at the Main Street Trading Company, St Boswells.

Nigella's Guinness Cake

So, as well as buying their cake, and feeling it was time to turn to some healthier choices, I also bought a new cookbook.

a modern way to eat by Anna Jones

‘Anna is a treasure. She’s the rare cook able to expertly explore the rich realm of possibilities at the intersection of health/wellness and deliciousness. Her food is inspired and fresh, satisfying and beautiful – vibrant food for a vibrant life.’Heidi Swanson

This is a lovely looking cookbook with clear instructions and enticing photographs. So, on tonight's menu we are having Puy Lentil and Sweet Potato Pie or maybe the Artichoke and Fennel Seed Paella but the Maple Peanut California Wraps sound good as does the Warm Salad of Kale, Coconut and Tomatoes...

  1. Lois this photograph brings back memories of my last year's visit to Scotland ... We have walked along the tweed as well. Thank you so much to point us to this cookbook, it sure looks good. ( the cake does too)

    1. Yes, there are some lovely walks in this area Marion. This was taken near Smailholm Tower near Kelso.

  2. ...you are making me hungry :-) The first photo is so beautiful.

    1. ...And tonight we are having California tempeh wraps with a peanut maple sauce and some roasted sweet potato wedges...

He still can't believe it is his photo but my son took this of me as we were walking back to the house after a longish walk in the baking sun - yes, baking sun in Scotland!!
